This year, the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) again invites YOU to participate in the Abstract selection process for the Annual Educational Conference (AEC) & Exhibition, being held in partnership with the International Federation of Environmental Health. The "Be a Voice" initiative gives you the opportunity to tell us what you'd like to experience at the AEC. Tell us topics you'd like to hear about and speakers you'd like to see. View submitted abstracts and provide feedback on them. Help NEHA develop a training and education experience that continues to advance the proficiency of the environmental health profession AND helps create bottom line improvements for your organization!

Implementing food safety practices: really important for real people (50m Lecture)

We've learned a lot since the Jack in the Box E. coli outbreak in 1993, but even with the ever-improving knowledge-base and regulatory reforms, every year 1:6 Americans still get sick and 3,000 die from pathogen-contaminated food. This presentation is designed for food safety professionals and the public-at-large to learn about food safety and how to make a food safety-oriented cultural shift quickly and effectively to reduce these staggering numbers. By utilizing impactful and inexpensive educational tools this is possible. We will offer these "tool box" enhancements along with a few case-studies illustrating what can happen when proper protocols are and are not followed. Short videos and a hands-on survey will test for before and after knowledge of concepts and overall feelings toward food safety. During a Q&A participants will be able to ask questions of a food safety consumer group and engage with one another.
