This year, the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) again invites YOU to participate in the Abstract selection process for the Annual Educational Conference (AEC) & Exhibition, being held in partnership with the International Federation of Environmental Health. The "Be a Voice" initiative gives you the opportunity to tell us what you'd like to experience at the AEC. Tell us topics you'd like to hear about and speakers you'd like to see. View submitted abstracts and provide feedback on them. Help NEHA develop a training and education experience that continues to advance the proficiency of the environmental health profession AND helps create bottom line improvements for your organization!

Hantavirus: 2013 Investigation of 2 Cases in Northern Arizona (50m Lecture)

http://www.cdc.gov/hantavirus
Last summer in Coconino County Arizona there were two Hantavirus cases that occurred within four weeks of each other. The first case perished from the disease and the second case survived. During the investigation of these two cases rodents were trapped and analyzed for Hantavirus. Recommendations were made to the families of these cases and public service announcements were publicized throughout the County. As a result of these two cases, Coconino County Health District collaborated with Northern Arizona University to conduct routine surveillance for Hantavirus to develop and provide updated education to local physicians and provide prevention steps for the public.
