The proper handwashing is the basis of food safety training. It is one of the simplest practices in Food
Safety, but also one of the least practiced or practiced correctly in Food
Establishments. Teaching of proper handwashing
is so important, to let the workers understand the importance of the
procedure. The traditional methods of
being at a sink and showing them how to wash, although still very important may
need to be improved with today's different generation of learners. Newer
methods include, use of liquid/creams and UV light, but are there other
alternatives. This workshop is to bring together a discussion of educators to
see what other methods are available for the trainer. Not only at the Food
Service level but down to the Elementary level, so the youth of today
understand the importance of handwashing. Facilitator will start with some demonstrations of well known and
alternative training methods, then open up for group discussion about
alternative methods, advantages and disadvantages and the types of groups that the techniques work
well for. Also discussed will be the
types of training supplies available for proper training.

This year, the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) again invites YOU to participate in the Abstract selection process for the Annual Educational Conference (AEC) & Exhibition, being held in partnership with the International Federation of Environmental Health. The "Be a Voice" initiative gives you the opportunity to tell us what you'd like to experience at the AEC. Tell us topics you'd like to hear about and speakers you'd like to see. View submitted abstracts and provide feedback on them. Help NEHA develop a training and education experience that continues to advance the proficiency of the environmental health profession AND helps create bottom line improvements for your organization!
